At the heart of the University of the Philippines lies a space built not only to accommodate gatherings but to foster meaningful connections, academic exchange, cultural understanding, and a sense of belonging for every guest who walks through our doors.
Established in 1993, U.P. Balay Internasyonal was created with a deeper purpose: to provide an environment where ideas are shared, communities are strengthened, and guests from different backgrounds feel at home within the university. More than a venue, Balay Kalinaw — the "House of Peace" — stands as a symbol of hospitality grounded in service, excellence, and inclusivity.
Beyond our function rooms, Kapit Balay Serviced Apartments extends this same commitment through comfortable on-campus accommodations for visiting professors, researchers, scientists, artists, and conference participants. With 24 residential units designed for both short and extended stays, we continue to provide a welcoming place for guests seeking both convenience and community within the University.
We believe that every conference sparks collaboration, every celebration strengthens relationships, and every guest experience reflects the values of the University. This is why we continue to provide accessible, professional, and purpose-driven campus hospitality for academic institutions, organizations, and families alike.

The guiding principles behind UP Balay Internasyonal's operations and service philosophy.
Mandate
U.P. Balay Internasyonal was inaugurated in May 1993. It has for its facilities the Ikeda Hall / Balay Kalinaw, which means House of Peace. It is a three-storey building that houses a Conference Hall, a Dining Room and Seminar Rooms. It is a venue ideal for many academic-related events, civic, cultural activities and private social gatherings, e.g. birthdays, weddings and anniversaries, seminars/conferences, etc.
It also has the Kapit-balay Serviced Apartments that provides housing and/or accommodation facilities for visiting professors, scholars, researchers, foreign graduate students and temporary accommodation for seminar and conference participants. This is a 4-storey walk-up apartment building with 24 residential units (14 studio units, 8 two-bedroom apartments and 1 executive room).
